Gifts & Giving – Day 30

Ephesians 4:7-8

But to each one of us, grace has been given as Christ apportioned it.

The Thought

This verse seems to be a confirmation and continuation of the comments yesterday. At Jesus ascension (Acts 1:6-9) His final words to His followers were that they were to continue what He had started. They were to be His witnesses throughout the earth.

He had already told them they were to spread the good news, heal the sick and raise the dead (Matthew 28:19-20 & Mark 16:15-18).

It is sad that much of the church has found itself inside large buildings praying for God to do most of the things He asked us to do. Sad, but not too late. In his letter to the church at Ephesus Paul assures the people that Jesus has given to each of us grace to accomplish what He has asked us to do.

Please remember that He has not asked all of us to do everything. But according to this verse Grace, (that invisible characteristic) is given as He apportioned it. That means we have Grace to do what He asks us to do. Some have grace to be pastors or preachers. Some have grace to serve tea or coffee. Many have grace to be welcoming while others have grace to spend much time in prayer.

There are no big gifts or small gifts, Jesus loves us all, even if we never identify what our gifts are! But He did send Holy Spirit to help us in whatever it is He is calling us to do to bring His kingdom to earth.

Action

Thank Jesus today for His Holy Spirit who is His gift to His church.

Thank Him for all He has called you to do for Him and His people.

Pray for more grace as we move towards the New Year with all its challenges.
