Haggai – Day 15

Haggai 2:2

Speak to Zerubbabel son of Shealtiel, governor of Judah, to Joshua son of Jozadak, the high priest, and to the remnant of the people. Ask them:-

The Thought

We must wait until tomorrow to find out what Haggai was told to ask the people! In this verse we see that the prophet must speak first to the leaders, then to all the people. The fact that God says to speak to “the remnant” as He often does, is reminding them, and us that there had been many deaths in all their desert wanderings.

Everyone of these people had only heard from parents and grandparents the history of their nation and what life was like before they had become slaves in Egypt, and later, exiles in Babylon.

They had heard the story of Jacob and Esau (Genesis 27). The two sons of Isaac who were very different with different destinies. But both were a part of God’s plan.

That plan had been partly revealed to Abraham generations before when he was childless and travelling in Canaan. God spoke to him saying: To your offspring I will give this land (Genesis 12:7). There were to be many years of wanderings and several generations before God’s people finally settled in their own land. But they eventually did, finding once they settled there, that there was much work to be done.

Action

Read Genesis 12 today. Think about the conversations God had with Abraham. Pray for open ears for yourself and those you pray for, to hear God’s voice better. He is continually speaking to all of us, and sometimes we forget that if we listen more, we will hear better.

Pray for any prophets you listen to today, that they will continue to hear God’s voice and relay correctly to the body of Christ what He is wanting us to hear.
