Revelation 1-3 – Day 9
The first phrase in this verse is a good one. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit is saying today to individual christians everywhere. How sad it is that many believers are taught that the Spirit has retired to Heaven and does not speak to mere mortals today.
Revelation 2:7
Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to eat from the tree of life, which is in the paradise of God.
The Thought
The first phrase in this verse would be a good one to preach about in any church anywhere. Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches. Not just what the Spirit says to the churches. But what He is saying today to individual christians everywhere. How sad it is that many believers are taught that since Biblical times the Spirit has retired to Heaven and doesn’t speak to mere mortals today.
There are also other extremes. I once met a person who literally didn’t do anything because The Lord had not yet told them what to do on that particular day! We need not wait for individual instructions. The Bible is full of suggestions for every day!
Nothing about God has changed since the beginning of time. Jesus was a part of the Godhead long before He came as a baby to earth. And we read in Hebrews 13:8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday today and forever.
That final chapter of Hebrews is an over view of much of what the Bible says in different books. It is as though the writer, (thought to be St. Paul) had so much to remind them of, and too much to say, but had to get the letter finished!
Action
Read Hebrews 13 today and see it as a to do list of reminders of what Jesus wants for His people.
Pray for yourself that you will fulfill His expectations, and share His love with more people: family, friends, neighbours or strangers.
What might the Spirit be saying to your church today. Read again Revelation 2:1-7 and pray for your church community.
