Psalms 146-150 – Day 4

Psalm 146:6-7

He is the Maker of heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them — He remains faithful forever. He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry.

The Thought

All through the Bible, there are assurances that Father God created the earth and the heavens. It is not just a fairy story that people made up! Neither did it take millions of years to develop from nothing as some people believe!

In this short psalm of praise, the writer lists some of the good characteristics of our amazing God.

Many people who have worked full time for Him have related encouraging stories of the second part of today’s verse (God gives food to the hungry), seeing miraculous provision when needed. Here are just a few examples:-

George Muller (1805-1898) was born in Germany but became a missionary in Britain, and raised the money to build large orphanages to take homeless children off the streets.

Gladys Aylward (1902-1970) felt the Lord telling her to take a boat to China, where she became a missionary, eventually rescuing hundreds of children. Her story is told in the film “The Inn of the Sixth Happiness”.

French missionary, Isaac Bisseux (1807-1896) spent over 60 years working near CapeTown in South Africa.

These people, and many others, would testify that God still gives food to the hungry confirming the verse today. God has not changed His mind, and, He remains faithful forever!

Action

Praise God today for His faithfulness, and thank Him for some of the times He has shown His faithfulness to you personally.

Read one of the life stories of the missionaries named above and thank God for those obedient ones who heard the call and obeyed what Jesus said to His disciples in Mark 16:15. Go into all the world and preach the gospel.
