Mysteries and Secrets – Day 7

Romans 11:25-26

I do not want you to be ignorant of this mystery, brothers and sisters. So that you may not be conceited: Israel has experienced a hardening in part until the full number of the Gentiles has come in, and in this way all Israel will be saved.

The Thought

We can imagine that many Gentile believers in the city of Rome were feeling as though they had been chosen over the Jewish people, because Paul had turned his back on the Jews he had preached to earlier. He did this because they refused to believe that the Saviour they were waiting for would come for Gentiles as well!

Many Jews continue in their waiting for The Messiah, but there have also been thousands of Jewish converts across the world who have seen and understood this mystery.

The fact is that God so loved THE WORLD that He gave His Son (John 3:16) (emphasis mine). That is the mystery that Paul was explaining to the Roman church.

In Acts 11 we read of Paul and Barnabas being sent out as missionaries. They spoke in Jewish synagogues and many believed, but when they had huge congregations coming to listen to them, some of the leading jews became jealous and began to contradict what Paul was teaching (Acts 11:46). That is when Paul gave up on the jews and became a missionary to the Gentiles.

Action

Read Acts 11 today and praise God that He used the criticism of the Jews in order to direct Paul to the non-jews.

Pray for the Jewish nation today, for safety, remembering that they are still God’s chosen people. They have been ever since The Lord brought them out of Egypt (At the time of writing, there is a continuing war between Israel and Gaza).

Remember also the verse above: God so loved THE WORLD … !
