Mysteries and Secrets – Day 19

Colossians 1:27

To them God has chosen to make known among the Gentiles the glorious riches of this mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory.

The Thought

We have here a short definition of the mystery we have been thinking about. Clearly, that mystery is Christ in His followers, giving us the hope of the glory to come. In a previous verse, Paul refers to the mystery that has been hidden for ages and generations as one which has now been disclosed to the Lord’s people (v26).

No matter how much we think we understand these verses, there is always something new to get hold of! Many of us have heard messages about conversion and taking Jesus into our lives, so that He lives in us by His Holy Spirit, but what does that mean for our daily lives? How can He guide us, help us, heal us? That is a part of the mystery!

When Jesus came to earth, many turned to Him as Saviour, thinking He would rule as an earthly king or champion, and when He was crucified, they were devastated. Many different emotions were felt during that time, but it wasn’t until the day of Pentecost that Jesus’ followers really began to understand that now the Holy Spirit was in them individually, and that was the key to the mystery!

No matter how long we have experienced or known about this mystery, there is always something new, something deeper to understand about Holy Spirit living in us and being our guide minute by minute through the day.

Action

Read the encouraging chapter of Colossians 1 again today, and spend some time telling yourself that you have Christ in you, the hope of glory, and consequently need not worry about anything.

Pray for the answers to any difficulty you might be facing.
