Habakkuk – Day 29

Habakkuk 3:16

I heard and my heart pounded, my lips quivered at the sound; decay crept into my bones, and my legs trembled. Yet I will wait patiently for the day of calamity to come on the nation invading us.

The Thought

The prophet has remembered in his own mind different occasions when God has done dramatic things to rescue His people from a very persistent enemy. In fact several different enemies, but the power behind all those events and all those tribes who had come against God’s people came from the snake who appeared to Eve in the garden and seduced her into eating the forbidden fruit.

The same enemy is still trying to seduce God’s people today. Our only hope is to remember what God said. Habakkuk listened and hearing God’s response made His heart pound. He wondered if something so dramatic was about to happen again. A scary thought! But Habakkuk makes the only sensible decision he can; to be patient and watch for God’s rescue plan.

When we are facing difficulties, personal or worldwide, we need to find encouragement somewhere. We have a whole Bible full of encouragements, full of instruction and direction. There are also many other books available telling of miracles, and changed lives that God has accomplished for His people on the earth.

Action

Choose to read something encouraging today whether a short book of the Bible such as Esther or Ruth, or a book of testimonies of what Jesus has done.

Pray for the end of the world problems today. Let’s pray for government decisions to be in line with God’s plan, and praise Him, that even if they don’t do that He is still in control and will win in the end.

Pray for patience as you watch for what God will do in order for the day of calamity to come on the enemy invading us.
