Separation – Day 9
The first outpouring of the Holy Spirit must have been an amazing sight, and an amazing experience. They were all together before they experienced the separation! We do not know exactly how long they were in that room together before this amazing experience. But we know that they were together.
Acts 2:1-3
When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
The Thought
The first outpouring of the Holy Spirit must have been an amazing sight, and an amazing experience. Note that they were all together before they experienced the separation! We don’t know exactly how long they were in that room together before this amazing experience. But we do know that they were together. That was the important thing. They had received their instructions from Jesus to wait for the Power to come (Acts 1:8). They had no idea what that would look like!
But suddenly … God came in power to touch each person in that room, and He had a “separate” flame for each one. He is still the same today. He often comes in power in meetings, but He speaks differently to each one. He knows our individual needs, He sends a “separate” flame to burn the dross and refine the silver and gold in each person, because He sees our hearts. He knows our dreams, and He has plans for each of us. Soon after this first outpouring the disciples were forced to separate and go in different directions to take the Gospel into the world, and each person had been prepared by the Lord for the work they were to do.
Action
Praise God that He treats you as an individual, that He sees your heart, hears your prayers and has great plans for you.
Pray for the group you are a part of. For the flame of the Holy Spirit to come as a refiner’s fire to purify and prepare each of you for the days ahead.
