Jude – Day 18

We praise God that when Holy Spirit comes in power once more on the earth in the revival which has already begun, many of those churches will be delivered of their religious spirit. And their members will know they have been deceived and will turn to The Truth.

Jude 13

They are wild waves of the sea, foaming up their shame; wandering stars, for whom blackest darkness has been reserved forever.

The Thought

Not satisfied with the dreadful description that we read in yesterday’s verse, Jude continues the slander of those people who attend church but don’t live the life of a spirit filled believer.

Many people call themselves Christians, but don’t know Jesus. They are often part of a nominally Christian community which denies the work of Holy Spirit, but holds a religious meeting each week.

We praise God that when Holy Spirit comes in power once more on the earth in the revival which has already begun, many of those churches will be delivered of their religious spirit. Their members will know they have been deceived and will turn to The Truth.

Many of us recognise those descriptions in today’s verse. We are often too quick to criticise those churches which don’t emphasise “life in the Spirit”. Criticism is not of the Lord. And we are told to love these people, because they will know we are christians by our love. We must remember Jesus’ words at all times.

Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you (Matthew 5:44).

Bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you (Luke 6:28).

We often think that some people or situations will never change. But remember what God told Abraham before Sarah became pregnant with Isaac. Is anything too hard for The Lord? I will return next year and Sarah will have a son (Genesis 18:14).

Action

Read again the verse for today and think about people or groups who might fit that description. It sounds hopeless, but there is always hope in Jesus (remember the thief on the cross)!

Pray for the people you know who seem a long way from salvation and declare that “Nothing is too hard for The Lord”!
