Psalm 119 – Day 23

נ Nun

Psalm 119:105-112

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path. I have taken an oath and confirmed it, that I will follow your righteous laws. I have suffered much; preserve my life, Lord, according to your word. Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth, and teach me your laws. Though I constantly take my life in my hands, I will not forget your law. The wicked have set a snare for me, but I have not strayed from your precepts. Your statutes are my heritage forever; they are the joy of my heart. My heart is set on keeping your decrees to the very end.

The Thought

Think about a very dark night when you are trying to walk along a fairly narrow path. A torch will only give enough light for one or two steps ahead. That is what the first verse refers to here. With God we can never see too far ahead. Yes, He might give us as individuals a vision or dream about our goal in this season of life, but seeing the goal is one thing, achieving it is quite another!

David knew in his heart that he was on his way to Heaven, but there were many problems along the way. He also knew the risks and the dangers he was facing, and he was trying his very best to be obedient to everything God was expecting of him.

Jesus said While I am in the world, I am the Light of the world (John 9:5), but He also told us that we are that light that others need You are the light of the world (Matthew 5:14).

Action

Read one or both of those two chapters today, and praise God for His consistency. Pray for those you know who do not yet know that Light.
