The Spiritual Blessings – 23

Ephesians 3:17-18

I also pray that love may be the ground into which you sink your roots and on which you have your foundation. This way, with all of God’s people you will be able to understand how wide, long, high, and deep his love is.

The Thought

We continue to look at the Ephesian prayer in todays thought. Let’s apply it to our own lives as we think of the spiritual blessings Paul is teaching us about.

We began to understand yesterday that God strengthens us from the inside out. There is no need to go to a gym and put in a lot of effort to receive His strengthening. We have to meditate on Him and all He has done for us. He longs for each of us to understand His love shown in Jesus’ dying in our place.

Is there anyone you love that you would be ready to die for?

Do you know someone who would die for you?

These are difficult questions for many of us. But Jesus did it, and that’s what Paul is trying to get across. His love is immeasurable.

Once we begin to grasp the truth of that, then we begin to understand the God of love who created us for His purposes. We begin to see why He told us all to go into all the world and tell others of His love. And why we should demonstrate it by healing the sick and raising the dead.

Action

As you and I go through our day today let’s meditate on Jesus’ love for us. He knew you and I wouldn’t be perfect, He knew we would never really grasp how much He loved us. He knew we would make regular determined attempts to be disciplined in our walk with Him, and we would fail. But He loved us anyway, and He still does.

Let’s praise Him for that today.
