The Spiritual Blessings – 17

Ephesians 2:18

So Jewish and non-Jewish people can go to the Father in one Spirit.

The Thought

Through Jesus we have access to Father God. Some of us who have been Christians for a long time will take this verse for granted, and say “well of course, that’s what Jesus did for us, He opened the way to the Father”. But that fact really is worth meditating on for a few minutes, or longer!

The most powerful being in the universe, the One who put stars into space, He is the highest authority in the whole of creation, and you and I have access to Him because His Son died in our place! There is no spiritual blessing greater than that.

Every person on earth has the same opportunity, but sadly a high percentage of them do not know it.

Many of Jesus’ words in the gospels and Paul’s advice to his churches talk of us coming to Jesus or to His Father for help, encouragement, advice, peace, whatever we need in times of trouble or stress or distress.

Just a few examples;

  • Ephesians 3:12 … We can go to God with bold confidence
  • Matthew 11:28 … Come to me, all who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.
  • John 6:35 … Whoever comes to me will never become hungry, and whoever believes in me will never become thirsty.

Action

Reflect on these verses today and pray that living in the presence of God will become more of a reality to you.

Let’s not confuse coming to the Father with going shopping, getting what we want and going home again.

Asking the Father for something means having a relationship with Him. If you don’t feel you have that, ask Him to help you. He knows you inside out and is more than ready to bless, heal, forgive, and provide whatever it is that you need. We just have to ask!
