The Spiritual Blessings – 15

But now through Christ Jesus you have been brought near. We must beware of those who twist the Bible, or mix God’s word with their own ideas. It is very sad when people with the best intentions say things that are not Biblical at all.

Ephesians 2:13

But now through Christ Jesus you, who were once far away, have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

The Thought

This sentence begins in the preceding verse and makes it obvious that Paul is writing to the Jewish people. ButJewish people who have become believers, seeing Jesus as their Messiah. That trend continues to this day. Many cities of the world have a “Jews for Jesus” or a Messianic Christian community. This verse also speaks to us Christians. Before we gave our hearts to Jesus we too were far away. We too have been brought near (to the Kingdom of God) by His blood.

I was very young when I became a Christian. And I really don’t remember much about it except that The Lord gave me a vision about it not too many years ago. I have always known that Jesus was in my life. But I was bothered by well meaning christians who told me that if I couldn’t give the date of my conversion then I wasn’t a REAL Christian.

It is very sad when people with the best intentions say things that are not Biblical at all.

We must beware of those who twist the Bible, or mix God’s word with their own ideas.

Praise God that He is the one who brings clarity and is always ready to teach us His truth.

Action

Spend time today thanking Jesus that His death brought you life and made it possible to be set free from the grip of the enemy.

My husband often shares a helpful image. He tells people that when we give our hearts to Jesus there is an angel that comes behind us with a huge eraser. This angel uses this eraser to eliminate all the wrong we have done. I don’t know if it’s true, but it is a good image.

The problem for many of us is that the effects of sin are long lasting, and often need dealing with later in life. Read Deuteronomy 28 to know more about that.
