The Spiritual Blessings – Day 13

Ephesians 2:6

God has brought us back to life together with Christ Jesus and has given us a position in heaven with him.

The Thought

I have days (not too many I am glad to say) when I feel far from my position in Heaven. When the day is not going well or when I have too much to do, even before it starts, and then frustrations seem to pile up on me so that I know I won’t get through everything before nightfall.

On those days I put on praise. It lifts my spirits and has me singing in no time at all.

That spiritual blessing is always available. It never goes away. If we are down in the dumps it is because we have moved, and not because God is having an off day!

In the last book of the Bible, we read that John heard a voice from Heaven saying “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this” (Revelation 4:1). Do you long for that to happen to you? I do. But the verse also tells us that John was “in the Spirit”, that means he was praying in the Spirit, he was appreciating the presence of Holy Spirit there where he was, in exile on the island of Patmos.

John was not deterred by his circumstances, and was spending time listening to the Lord. That is the only way to deal with days when we feel down or frustrated.

Action

Remind yourself today to pray for God’s help on the days which are busy and/or difficult, and remind yourself that you must thank Him when He has got you through them.

Pray that today will be a good day when you remember the spiritual blessings we are seeing in this letter to the Ephesian church.
