Renewing the Mind – Day 24

Jeremiah 31:33

“This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after that time,” declares the LORD. “I will put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.”

The Thought

As we are considering “renewing the mind” this verse is a good one to study. This covenant is a promise from the Lord to make us His people, but He won’t force Himself on any of us, He will only do in my life what I give Him permission to do. I give Him that permission through my prayers and by reading and learning His word for myself and allowing it to change my attitude to earthly things.

It is a very long time since Jeremiah’s prophecy, but this verse still rings true today. God’s intention is still to have a holy people. He is still looking for that group of worshippers. A people who know His word, live by His word and are 100% dedicated to Him.

Is His law written on your mind today? That doesn’t mean the do-s and don’t-s of Old Testament Law. It just means the first commandment. “Love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your mind and all your strength” (Mark 12:30). So many of us find it hard to love the Lord our God who has done so much for us, with that intensity.

Those we love, we pray for, and Jesus is blessed.

When we care for others in the way Jesus would, He is blessed.

When we consider His attitude to everything we do, and do what He would do, He is blessed.

Action

Pray for the Lord’s help today to love Him more. Ask Him to show you any blockages to that love, and pray for them to be removed in the powerful name of Jesus.
