Renewing the Mind – Day 17

It seems easy to say Do Not Worry, but most of us know it is not easy to do. Jesus tells us the only way to do it is to trust Him, and His Heavenly Father. Look back and remember the times God has answered a prayer for you.

John 14:1

Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in Me.

The Thought

This command of Jesus was given to those who followed Him during His earthly ministry, and it is given to us today. It seems so easy to say “don’t worry”, but most of us know that it is not so easy to do. Jesus tells us the only way to do it is to trust Him, and His Heavenly Father.

Are you worried about anything at the moment? Work? Covid? Financial issues? Longterm health problems? Family problems? Relationships?

Now, our human nature is to worry, and mankind has an enemy who often seems to be sitting on a shoulder and whispering in our ear that we must worry about something or other. But our verse today tells us that the answer to worrying is to trust the only person who is worthy of our trust. Jesus.

Convincing ourselves that God can be trusted is a difficult thing to do. Looking back and recognizing things He has done for us in the past can help to encourage us that He will do it again.

Read the verse above once more and see it as a command from Jesus. Note that He doesn’t say, “it will be nice if your hearts were not troubled” or “I suggest that you don’t worry”. Jesus gives us a command from Heaven, from the highest authority in the universe. “Do not…”.

Look back and remember some of the times God has answered a prayer for you. Does that help you to trust Him to answer your prayers today?

Are you asking yourself as you look at the world today “Where is the God of the Bible?” Be encouraged He is still on the throne and will have His way on the earth.

Pray for the determination to rejoice in His love no matter what is happening around you.
