Renewing the Mind – Day 14

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight.

The Thought

This is how change begins in us. As we learn to trust Him, and not our own wisdom, so we will become more like Him. We have to somehow stop reacting to situations as the world reacts. Most of us have spent years being educated by the world’s system where we are taught to rely on ourselves, on what we have learned in school or at home. We have developed our own abilities to survive most problems.

Years ago I began to meditate on this verse and would repeat it to myself throughout the day with different emphases. “Trust in THE LORD with all your heart…” then later “Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart…” This is followed by a direct order to not react as we think, so that we understand that trusting the Lord is directly opposite to trusting ourselves!

Very slowly I have seen changes happen in my life as a result of trusting Him more.

In any situation of panic, how do you react?

In a financial crisis, do you worry, or pray?

When someone is sick, is the medicine cabinet your first call?

When you are asked to give something, do you hesitate because you need it yourself? Or are you confident that what you give, God can multiply back to you?

Action

Praise God that He is the answer, and He has the answer to every difficult situation. Quite often He has allowed or even created the problem to help us to grow in Him.

Pray for Him to show you where you are leaning on your own understanding, and not trusting in Him with your whole heart.

Meditate on this verse throughout your day and allow the Lord to challenge you.
