Mountains – Day 27

John 6:15

Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by Himself.

The Thought

Mountains can be places for private meditation and closeness to Father God as we read here.

The earlier verses of this chapter tell us John’s account of the feeding of the five thousand with the miraculous multiplication of one boy’s lunch.

That miracle led to “the people” thinking that Jesus was “The Prophet” they had been expecting and had heard about in the teachings in the synagogue. This was true. But Jesus had to escape alone so that the enthusiasts wouldn’t get ahead of the prescribed timing of the Lord.

All through Biblical history we see the importance of the Lord’s perfect timing. Things are just the same today. Many of us pray that covid and all that it started and brought to earth in confusion and fear, will end. But God seems still to be saying “Not yet”! He had His purposes to be fulfilled in Jesus’ time. He hasn’t changed.

In our study of Habakkuk last month we read these words: “Look at the nations and watch – be utterly amazed. For I am going to do something in your days that you would not believe, even if you were told.” (Habakkuk 1:5).

Let us continue to watch and pray as Jesus told His followers to do in Matthew 26:41 & Mark 14:38. Watch and pray that you will not fall into temptation.

Action

One of the temptations we fall into today is thinking we know how to solve the problems and consequently we try to tell God what to do by praying the wrong things.

Pray today for the Lord to inspire your prayers with His truths and His desires, and for those things to happen in His perfect timing.
