James – Day 26

James 5:16

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous man is powerful and effective.

The Thought

This verse clearly links sickness to sin as does Deuteronomy 28.

If a pastor told you that an illness you suffered from was linked to sin how would you react? Most people feel judged, and accused, and yet Jesus healed many by simply forgiving their sins.

Sin is an evil element in our lives, and it really can cause serious illness. It can be our own sin, or the sin passed down through the generations (Exodus 20:5). How wonderful to know that Jesus gave us a new start, He took our sins on Himself, and gave us the right to become children of God (John 1:12). That means no inherited sins, no inherited sickness, no sin related diseases. Hallelujah!

Years ago I met a lady who had not been a believer until one day she had a vision of Jesus on the cross manifesting the diseases of the world; swellings, tumours, psoriasis, burst blood vessels, She began to understand that Jesus literally experienced every sickness during His time on the cross. It was a horrible sight and changed her life dramatically. She said that the crucifixes we see do not resemble what she believed was the sight of Jesus on the cross.

As a consequence of that vision she became a Christian and a missionary.

Action

Pray for God to reveal to you any sin past or present in your life, or in your family inheritance. Ask Jesus to remove the sin and its consequences right now. Pray for a manifestation of the reality that you are His child.

Praise God for the Spirit of adoption that lets us know we are His children (Romans 8:16).

Praise Him for His plan for wholeness and health for each one of His children.
