Gideon – Day 9

Judges 6:16

I will be with you.

The Thought

The answer to everything comes in these few words. Every problem, every stress at work, at home, in the family, every accident, every sickness. Anything the enemy might throw at us finds its antidote here. Whatever we suffer from, we would do well to remember these five words. “I will be with you”! Isn’t that an amazing statement from the God who created the universe and keeps it turning!

No matter what we face, whether it is an army the size of the Midianites or a small problem in our daily lives, the Lord, who never leaves us, is in it with us. Once we are really convinced of this fact, and have this truth in our hearts, then we can face any enemy or any problem.

As we read through the Bible we can see that God used exactly the same phrase “I will be with you” when he spoke to several other individuals. Look at Isaac (Genesis 26:3), Jacob (Genesis 31:3), Moses (Exodus 3:12), Joshua (Joshua 1:5), or Jeroboam (1 Kings 11:38). And there are others.

The writer of the book of Hebrews reminds us: God has said, “I will never abandon you or leave you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper. I will not be afraid. What can mortals do to me?” (Hebrews 13:5-6)

Action

Pray that God’s presence becomes more real to you. That today you become aware that He is with you, and has a purpose for your life. Ask Him to help you fulfill all He has for you.

Pray for others you know who are not familiar with Biblical teachings to become aware of God’s presence through the struggles of life.

Praise Him for the truth of His presence, and for His promise to never leave you.
