Gideon – Day 5

Judges 6:12

When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” (NIV)

The Thought

Now that we understand the situation, here comes the hero. But he doesn’t look like a hero! The name Gideon means warrior or hero, so the angel is using the meaning of his name. But also he is telling Gideon to move into his destiny, to do what he is called to do. He is telling him to do what he has been called to do since the beginning of time.

What a surprise it must have been for Gideon to see an angel. And then to be addressed personally by him. Gideon did not see himself as a hero and needed quite a bit of convincing.

Angelic intervention in our world seems to have been increasing over the last 100 years. Many books have been written about visions and encounters. But at the time of Gideon there were few angelic experiences, because of the sin of the people. Do we understand that our sin prevents us from hearing God’s voice and seeing His messengers? (Isaiah 59:2)

The angel was also calling Gideon to remember that the Lord of Lords is with him, and will accompany him in his calling.

What has God called you to do for Him?

Are you conscious of the fact that God is with you every minute of the day?

Is it time to come out of hiding and move into your destiny?

Action

Pray for the Lord to move you to where He wants you to be; for His will to be done in your life, and for His plans for you to be accomplished.

Praise Him that He has confidence in all that He has put in you and praise Him for His patience, plans, and prospects for your life.
