Gideon – 26

Judges 7:15-16

“Attack! The Lord will hand Midian’s camp over to you.” Gideon divided the 300 men into three companies. He gave them each rams’ horns and jars with torches inside.

The Thought

The result of the dream interpretation was that Gideon ran back to rally his very small army with a cry that the Lord had already delivered Midian into their hands. So convinced was he of the victory. What an exciting moment that must have been.

But then Gideon gave the army their battle gear! I wonder how many of them were a bit scared when they saw that they had no real weapons. Just horns and jars!! We can suppose that each one was convinced they were chosen by the Lord to be a part of the coming battle. But I’m sure that some of them had their doubts when they saw what they were fighting with.

We read in the New Testament that Jesus has given us the victory (1 Corinthians 15:57). Doesn’t it make us wonder how it will manifest and if we have to do anything, and how do we prepare for it?

All the time, and in every situation, Jesus is saying “Trust Me!”

The church needs to rise up today and know in her heart of hearts that the Lord has delivered the enemy into our hands. In 1 John 5:3-5 we read that believers have the victory to overcome the world. All we need is faith!

Action

Praise the Lord of Lords for who He is, and ask Him to encourage you as you take to heart what you are reading.

Pray for your church to recognise the victory she has in the name of Jesus. She has to rise up and do what the Lord is calling her to do.
