Esther – Day 9

Esther 2:13-14

And this is how she would go to the king: anything she wanted was given her to take with her from the harem to the king’s palace. In the evening she would go there and in the morning return to another part of the harem to the care of Shaashgaz, the king’s eunuch who was in charge of concubines. She would not return to the king unless he was pleased with her and summoned her by name.

The Thought

This sounds to me like a very stressful moment for any young woman. All that preparation over a full year, much talk about how to act and what to do and say. Then suddenly the day has come! I suppose it could be compared to a wedding day for a modern day virgin in those parts of the world where young girls do not meet their husbands until they are married! Except that this was not a marriage, and could end up being just a one night stand!!

There was not much chance of getting ideas from those girls who had gone before because they were taken to live in a different part of the palace!! No gossiping, no tale telling, no suggestions, no help!

The only help Esther could get was from the un-married males in charge of the harems, and from God. She must have prayed much when her day arrived.

Action

How do you cope with stressful moments in life? Pray? Ask for help from family or friends? Thank God today for having helped you survive the most stressful moments of your life so far.

Pray for anyone you know who is going through a stressful time at the moment. Most of us have known some stressful times recently with lockdown, sickness, political situations!

Praise God today that His peace transcends all understanding and is available in every situation we face (Philippians 4:7).
