Esther – Day 22

Esther 6:1-4

That night the king could not sleep; so he ordered the book of the chronicles, the record of his reign, to be brought in and read to him. It was found recorded there that Mordecai had exposed Bigthana and Teresh, two of the king’s officers who guarded the doorway , who had conspired to assassinate King Xerxes. “What honour and recognition has Mordecai received for this?” The king asked. “Nothing has been done for him,” his attendants answered. The king said, “Who is in the court?” Now Haman had just entered the outer court of the palace to speak to the king about impaling Mordecai on the pole he had set up for him. His attendants answered, “Haman is in the court.” “Bring him in” the king ordered.

The Thought

Without doubt God was in this story, and the timing of events is amazing. Why could the king not sleep? How come his counsellor read that particular part of history to him? Why was Haman just there at that moment? Because God … is the only answer to these questions. We could argue about coincidences, but so many one after the other is too much to be natural.

Remember that all the Jewish community in Susa had prayed and fasted for three days for the success of Esther’s mission. It worked, and the Lord sent angels to poke and prod the king so that he couldn’t sleep, they then opened the records at the right page, and they pushed Haman into the court at exactly the right moment!

Action

Praise God today for His perfect timing.

Thank Him in advance that He is sending angels to sort any problems that you might be facing.

Look back on some of the “coincidences” you have experienced and praise your loving Heavenly Father for keeping His eye on you.
