Esther – Day 17

Esther 4:11

“All the king’s officials and the people of royal provinces know that for any man or woman who approaches the king in the inner court without being summoned, the king has but one law; that they be put to death, unless the king extends the golden sceptre to them and spares their lives. But thirty days have passed since I was called to the king.”

The Thought

Esther was not over enthusiastic about going to see her husband with the request to save all the people whose lives were under threat. She was scared for her own life, knowing what could happen to those who disobey the king. But Mordecai had his answer to her. In verse 14 we have the most well known verse from this book of Esther’s story. Who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this? Esther 4:14

Mordecai’s words were the trigger to make Esther do what God had put her there to do. The God who knew the future and had prepared His servant putting her in the right place at the right time was The Only One who could help.

God will do the same with you and me, even if we are not enthusiastic. Esther wasn’t.

But she submitted, asked for people to fast for her and declared When this (the fast) is done, I will go to the king even though it is against the law. And if I perish, I perish. Esther 4:16

Action

Do you ever try to persuade The Lord that He has chosen the wrong person?

Tell Jesus today that you believe you are in the right place to serve Him. Dare to ask Him if He has a project for you that only you can do.

Pray for His strength to obey and fulfill all He has planned for you this side of Heaven.
