The Spiritual Blessings – Day 8

Ephesians 1:9

He revealed the mystery of his plan to us.

The Thought

An understanding of God’s purpose and will for mankind is one of the Spiritual Blessings that we are looking at throughout this month. Paul, who wrote this letter to the Ephesians was totally sure of what God’s will was. Both for him personally and for all mankind.

Have a look at the prayer at the beginning of Paul’s letter to the Colossians. Paul tells his readers, including us, that he is continually asking God to fill them with the knowledge of His will, through all the knowledge and understanding that the Spirit gives. (Colosians 1:9)

Ephesians 1:10 tells us that God’s will before the end of time is “to bring all things in Heaven and earth together under one head, even Christ.”

The world looks a long way from that at the moment. But it isn’t over until it’s over and God will have His way and accomplish His plans. Jesus will come back, and the whole world will see Him. The question I ask myself today is “Am I helping or hindering God’s will for the world around me?”

Action

As you pray today ask the Lord to show you His will in your every day life. Maybe He is asking you to give something to someone. Or to speak about Jesus to someone.

Maybe He is asking you to pray for a situation outside your usual line of prayer.

Perhaps someone you see who you were not expecting to see today needs prayer.

Maybe God is asking you to spend time with someone you wouldn’t really choose to.

Try to be conscious of the fact that His will is that every person that you see be filled to the measure of the fullness of God. (Ephesians 3:19)

How can you and I help to get His will done on earth as it is in Heaven?
