Renewing the Mind – Day 29

Lamentations 3:22-23

Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.

The Thought

In the process of trying to renew our minds, we can sometimes get depressed because nothing seems to be changing. We must be encouraged that The Lord knows our intentions. He knows the effort we are making to be more like Jesus. And He loves us no matter how much we fail!

If you are feeling guilty at not changing fast enough, or not doing what you think the Lord wants you to do, then let this verse today be an encouragement.

God is not watching with a big stick ready to beat you if you fail. No, He is waiting with open arms to pick you up, set you back on your feet and help you start again. Remember that He is slow to anger and abounding in love (Nehemiah 9:17 & Psalm 86:15).

For some of us, the renewing of our minds has to begin with looking at God as loving Father. He is the perfect Father who gave His only Son out of love for you and me. Many of us have been hurt by our earthly parents; physically, mentally, or emotionally by things they have said or done, by their absence, by the limitations they have put on us or sometimes by giving us too much freedom.

None of us have had perfect parents, but God wants to heal all those hurts. He wants to take you on His knee today and let you hear His heartbeat.

Give Him time to do that today.

Action

Praise God that He is the Perfect Father whose love never changes, who keeps no record of wrongs, and who has new blessings for us each day.

Pray that your knowledge of God the Father will increase and transcend every influence from your earthly father.
