7 Seals – Day 28

Revelation 8:1-2

When he (the Lamb) opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven for about half an hour. Then I saw the seven angels who stand in God’s presence, and they were given seven trumpets.

The Thought

Can you imagine all those people we have read about in previous verses, all those angels and living creatures being silent?

In Revelation 4:8 we read that the four living creatures never stop saying “Holy, Holy, Holy is the Lord God Almighty who was and is and is to come”. So what do you suppose has made them silent?

What do you think about silence? Is it something you love, or something you can’t stand? What do you think about during times of enforced silence?

This must have been an awesome silence; not a single cough or murmur, no fidgeting. Everyone’s eyes must have been on the seven angels receiving the seven trumpets.

As you think about this scene, hear the silence in your mind and see the angels receiving their trumpets silently. Feel the anticipation of the whole multitude (who probably didn’t know what was happening), the four living creatures, (who probably did) and the angels who are obviously going to blow the trumpets to break the silence. What a responsibility!

Action

Spend some time in silence today meditating on some of the scenes, and the amazing God we have been reading about, ask Him quietly to speak to you in the silence.

Praise your Heavenly Father that two thousand years ago He gave these amazing visions to John, and long before that He had given similar ones to many of His Old Testament prophets (Isaiah, Daniel, Ezekiel and others).

Praise Him that, before time began, He planned the end.

Thank Him for Jesus who fulfilled His life mission and allowed Father God to finish His purposes for mankind.
