Creation – Day 6

We can understand why there are many who believe in Jesus but can not get a grip on the creation story. It just does not seem possible, unless we choose to believe in a creator God who really is capable of anything and everything. How big is your God?

Genesis 1:9-10

And God said “Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear.” God called the dry ground “land” and the gathered waters he called “seas”. And God saw that it was good.

The Thought

As we read these verses slowly, we can imagine God being pleased with what He was creating. In the same way that we are satisfied with ourselves when we know that we have accomplished a task well.

But the description we have here still looks nothing like the earth we know today. The “water under the sky” is certainly not all in one place. There are many oceans and seas on the globe.

We can understand why there are many people who believe in Jesus but can’t get a grip on the creation story. It just doesn’t seem possible, or probable, unless we choose to believe in a creator God who really is capable of anything and everything. Maybe the first thing we need to challenge ourselves with is the question “how big is my god?”

Is He capable of doing more than I can imagine? Most of us would say yes to that, but then we still put limits on Him.

There are stories in the Christian world today of God healing many physical problems, just as He did in Biblical times, even creating missing organs.

Personally, the God that I believe in is capable of anything and everything, so why not creating a world from nothing?

Action

Ask yourself today if you believe what we are studying this month. Maybe you find it interesting, but does it make God bigger for you?

Does it make any difference to your faith in Jesus?
