Creation – Day 30

Colossians 1:16-17

For in Him (Jesus) all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together.

The Thought

Yesterday we looked a little at John’s conviction that creation happened according to God’s plan/ Today we hear Paul’s opinion on the same matter, with the same conviction that Jesus was there before time began.

God designed all things well. It is the enemy, the devil who is also in the world and who has distorted the good plans of God. Sadly humanity has listened and been affected too much by the voice of satan, the destructor. His deceptions have been huge. But he will not have the last word. Jesus is still alive and will come back to put things right. There are exciting times ahead.

As I read this verse now, I am struck by the last few words. God created everything FOR HIMSELF!! I find that a challenge.

I have to ask myself, (not for the first time,) if I am doing what He created me for. Do I think He is pleased with me. If He created me for Himself, why did He want me alive? What does He want me to do? What is my purpose?

Very quickly I am reassured by the peace I feel, that all is well and I am still on the right road.

Action

Ask yourself those questions today. And ask Creator God for His encouragement that you are on the right road, in the right place, doing the right thing for today.

Rejoice as He gives you peace about your situation. If He doesn’t, then ask Him what you need to do to be in the right place.

Read the 1st chapter of Colossians and imagine listening to Paul as He elaborates on who Jesus is.
