7 Seals – Day 2
Instantly, I came under the Spirit’s power. I saw a throne in heaven, and someone was sitting on it. The one sitting there looked like jasper and carnelian.
“Instantly, I came under the Spirit’s power. I saw a throne in heaven, and someone was sitting on it. The one sitting there looked like jasper and carnelian.” So … God doesn’t look like a “normal” person, He is shining like a red jewel! At least for this revelation!
John was immediately taken over by Holy Spirit as he entered an amazing series of visions. Do you find it strange that he said “someone” was sitting on the throne? This is obviously not an ordinary person, and John is maybe searching for words to describe what he saw. The description goes on through the rest of chapter 4. Take time to read it today and be amazed at the sights that await us when we leave this life.
The two precious stones, jasper and ruby, used here to describe God are mentioned in other places in the Bible:-
- The Israelites were told in Exodus 28 to put a row of jasper on the breastplate of the high priest when they made outfits for Aaron in the desert!! How did they do that? Where did they get the jasper? How did they make all the requirements while wandering in the desert?
I have so many questions about things that Biblical writers have left unsaid! I guess once in Heaven we will have eternity to discover the answers.
Maybe then these things will not seem so important!
- In the book of Job, chapter 28, we read that Wisdom is more precious than jasper. In Ezekiel 28 we read that satan was adorned with precious stones including jasper before his fall from grace!
- Revelation 21 tells us that the walls and the foundations of the Holy City are jasper!
Jasper occurs in many different colours, but the predominant colour is red. Like carnelian!
So … God doesn’t look like a “normal” person, He is shining like a red jewel! At least for this revelation!
As you go through your day today, thank the Lord for all the visions recorded for us in the Bible. Dare you ask Him for more Holy Spirit evidence in your own life? Or do you think that to have visions like these would be too scary? In Joel 2:28 we read a promise that at the end of time there will be an increase in prophecy, dreams and visions. It’s OK to pray for those for yourself. God is ready to answer our prayers.
