7 Seals – Day 12

John 16:2

Certainly, the time is coming when people who murder you will think that they are serving God.

The Thought

We do a slight deviation from our Revelation chapter to look further into “peace”.

At the beginning of the long farewell speech to His disciples, Jesus talks about peace. He then throws in a little warning that exterior peace will not always be there. But the last verse of this chapter is one to remember: “my peace will be with you” (John 16:33).

It is becoming more and more obvious (at least to me as I prepare this study) that these Horsemen of the Apocalypse are not necessarily following one another. But all of them have been in the world since the beginning of time. Or at least since Adam and Eve were banned from Eden.

There has certainly been an increase in the killing of Christians since the Bible was written. There is also a continual increase in world communication. This means that we are much more aware of world events than we used to be.

World history has terrible stories about people being killed for their faith. We have even heard of christians killing other christians because they disagree on points of theology!

Action

Pray for peace among the different denominations of Christianity.

Ask yourself if you have a bias against those who don’t believe in the same way that you do. What do you do with the thought that Jesus loves them as much as He loves you?

Pray for a closeness to Jesus in your own personal life so that whatever happens you will have “peace in Him”.

Read John 16 and be encouraged.
