Thought 4

Psalm 34:20

He protects all his bones, not one of them will be broken.

A prophetic verse about the death of Jesus, and we are beginning to see the importance of not breaking bones. The Pascal lamb eaten by the Israelites before fleeing Egypt was to have no broken bones, and here the Last and All Sufficient Pascal Lamb was to have no broken bones. The reason for the Lord’s attention to detail in Exodus 12:45-46 is becoming clearer. At the time of the Exodus, the sacrifice of Jesus was already planned down to the finest detail.

Pray for the fullness of Christ’s death and resurrection to become clearer to you today.

Praise the Lord today for Jesus’ death which set us free from slavery, and Praise Him too for the unchanging message of the Bible from Geneses to Revelation.

Thought 5

Genesis 50:25

And Joseph made the sons of Israel swear an oath and said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up from this place.”

Joseph knew that only his bones would be left by the time the Israelites finally escaped from Egypt. But do you wonder why it was important to him that his bones were not left there? Maybe he had a premonition of the interest in Egyptology of today and how the rest of the world would sack the tombs of the pharaohs to take artifacts back to western museums. Do you care what happens to your bones after your death? Is it as important as what happens to your soul and spirit? The only sure thing about life is that it will end in death and yet in the 21st century we try to pretend it will not happen. We live as though we will live forever. If you knew you were to die next week what would you change?

Pray for the reality of Life after death to be meaningful for you today. Pray for any you know who are anticipating death.

Praise God that physical death is the beginning of real life for those who believe in Jesus.

Thought 6

Exodus 13:19

Moses took the bones of Joseph with him because Joseph had made the sons of Israel swear an oath. He had said, “God will surely come to your aid, and then you must carry my bones up with you from this place.”

Several generations after Joseph had died, Moses acts according to his wishes. Now we see that Joseph had acted in confidence of what God would do in the future. How confident are you today that God will rescue you? How confident are you that He will answer your prayers for the next generation? Joseph wanted nothing left in Egypt. When we move out of the enemy’s hands, we must leave nothing there, even bones could be used by the enemy, and we need to move all our belongings into the promised land.

Is there a part of your life that holds you to the past?

Pray for the Lord’s revelation, and redemption of all your past life. Pray that you can enter fully into all that He has for you.

Praise God for for His plans for future generations, that He is working His purposes out as time goes on. Praise Him for the glorious end there will be when Jesus comes for His Bride.
