1 John – Day 25

1 John 4:19-21

We love because He first loved us. Whoever claims to love God yet hates a brother or sister is a liar. For whoever does not love their brother and sister, whom they have seen, cannot love God, whom they have not seen. And He has given us this command: Anyone who loves God must also love their brother and sister.

The Thought

In the introduction to this study we said that John understood more than all the others what real love is. And here, in chapter 4, we have the proof. Understanding how much God loved us is the key to the way we live our lives. Loving others is what Jesus wants us to do, starting with our own families, which I believe includes our spiritual family.

The second sentence above is very disturbing for many who have experienced family disputes and become estranged from family members. Prayer for guidance is the only answer, asking Jesus to show you how to proceed.

Across the world there are hundreds of different styles and confessions of church. Sadly many of those different groups have been formed because of dispute, because a group of people wanted to do things differently. We are privileged to live in a day when Jesus is doing a great work of reconciliation among His followers.

In the year 2000 I had a series of visions when the Lord showed me many different types of church, and how much He loved them all. He still does.

You can read about that experience in the book “Transported by The Lion of Judah”. Available from The Elijah List in N. America and from me in the rest of the world.

Action

Pray today for those who have shown you Real Love. Praise God for them.

Pray for those who haven’t shown you real love when they should have, and ask God to help you forgive them. Pray for healing of any hurts that were caused by those relationships.
