The Last – Day 29

1 Peter 1:4-5

This inheritance is kept in Heaven for you, who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time.

The Thought

The inheritance that Peter is talking about here, is described briefly as a living hope (verse 3) and later in this chapter as the salvation of your souls (1 Peter 1:9).

As children of the only Living God, once we have become followers of Jesus, then we can call God Abba Father (Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6), and live as His children. What a privilege that is.

We must use that privilege to bring others into the family. I have met many believers who say they cannot talk about their faith to others, it is too personal. Yes, it is an extremely personal thing, but nowhere in our Bibles do we read that we must stay silent.

Just before His ascension, Jesus told His disciples that they would be His witnesses (Acts 1:8). But those of us who do not find it easy to talk about our faith can live it out by being kind, generous, loving, and letting our lifestyle be a witness to others. We can also pray!

Moses and Aaron received orders about everything they would need to know for survival on their journey to the promised land and also when they established their new homes in the country we know as Israel. One of the times when God was talking to those two leaders He repeated His orders to be holy because I am holy (Leviticus 11:44-45). That is still God’s desire for His people today. We are all called to be holy.

Action

Read one of the Bible chapters mentioned, and think about what it means to be holy today, and pray that others will see your reactions as different.
