Psalm 119 – Day 16

Psalm 119:68-72

You are good, and what You do is good; teach me Your decrees. Though the arrogant have smeared me with lies, I keep your precepts with all my heart. Their hearts are callous and unfeeling, but I delight in your law. It was good for me to be afflicted so that I might learn your decrees. The law from your mouth is more precious to me than thousands of pieces of silver and gold.

The Thought

There is a time in the life of most individuals when they reach a point where they recognise that God is good. Some people then go the way of David and want to learn directly from Him. But others run further away because of their guilt and shame.

A part of our commission as believers is to Go into all the world and preach the gospel, knowing that just as Jesus was with the first disciples, He will be with us; always, to the very end of the age (Matthew 28:20).

A part of our job in this 21st century is to share the love and forgiveness of Jesus wherever we go. Some find it easy to do that, and end up being very successful in missionary work either at home or abroad. Others find it more difficult to do face to face, but pray and use the internet to let others know that they are believers, and that Jesus loves everyone; good, and not so good, bad and really bad.

Remember the man on the cross at the side of Jesus. We don’t know what he had done to break the law, even though he has often been referred to as a thief, but He recognised Jesus for who He was and prayed the only prayer he knew how to pray (Luke 23:39-43).

Action

Read one or more of the gospel passages mentioned today, and pray for more success in sharing the truth of Jesus with those around you.
