Children of God – Day 17

Matthew 18:3

And Jesus said: “I tell you the truth, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven.”

The Thought

This verse is a serious warning from Jesus. It is also a bit scary! Many of us thought that all we had to do was to repeat a sinner’s prayer, be a bit emotional, go to church from time to time, perhaps be baptized, and then we would have our passport to Heaven! Many others think that they don’t have to really have faith themselves, but just rely on the prayers of others, a believing marriage partner, praying parents!

But Heaven is not a country in the sky, which requires a conversion date as a passport.

No, The Kingdom of Heaven is all around us, here; where we are, but we are often so blinded spiritually that we cannot experience it.

A child is very comfortable with a fantasy or an unseen world. (I am NOT saying that Heaven is a fantasy, please read me correctly!) I am saying that in fact it is all around us if we open our eyes to see it. A normal happy child is totally accepting if we talk about “other world places”. Consequently, most children are much more comfortable than any adult in believing in a spiritual reality. Most adults are too conditioned by the physical world. Are you?

Action

Ask yourself today if you really believe in Heaven as a child would if hearing about it for the first time.

Pray for your own spiritual eyes to be opened. Pray for your church to preach the reality of the Kingdom of Heaven very near to us.

Praise God that He is very close, and is constantly beckoning us into His Kingdom.

Praise God that the door is always open (Revelation 4:1-2).
